About the role

As a Quartermaster and Chemical Equipment Repairer in the Army National Guard, you will support the maintenance of chemical decontamination equipment and quartermaster machinery. Your responsibilities include servicing internal combustion engine ignition, fuel, cooling, and electrical systems, as well as performing damage assessment and repair.

Responsibilities

  • Service internal combustion engine ignition, fuel, cooling, and electrical systems
  • Perform damage assessment and repair
  • Maintain laundry and bath equipment, pumps, engines, burners, filter units, and water purification units
  • Support maintenance of special purpose equipment, decontamination and protective filter systems, smoke generator systems, and chemical electrical systems

Skills

  • Internal combustion engine theory
  • Shop mechanics and machinery repair
  • Use and care of hand and power tools

Training and advancement

You will receive 10 weeks of Basic Training followed by 12 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT). During AIT, you will train in marine engine maintenance and repair, internal combustion engine theory, and the use and care of tools.

Requirements

  • Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
  • At least a junior in high school or a high school diploma or GED certificate
  • Age between 17 and 35
  • Ability to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
  • Meet citizenship requirements
