91D Power-Generation Equipment Repairer
About the Role
As the Power-Generation Equipment Repairer in the Army National Guard, you’ll supply the power essential to run virtually every aspect of Army activity whenever and wherever it’s needed. This role involves supporting military operations by performing preventive maintenance checks on generation equipment, replacing voltage regulators, governors, or circuit cards, and adjusting frequencies and voltages using technical publications to enhance equipment efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance on tactical utility and precise power-generation sets.
- Maintain internal combustion engines and associated equipment.
- Conduct preventive maintenance checks on generation equipment.
- Replace voltage regulators, governors, or circuit cards.
- Adjust frequencies and voltages to enhance equipment efficiency.

Training
Job training for a Power-Generation Equipment Repairer consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you'll learn basic Soldiering skills, and approximately 12 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, including practice in maintaining electrical power systems. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field.
Instead of paying to learn these skills, you will earn a regular paycheck and qualify for tuition assistance.

Requirements
- Military enlistment in the Army National Guard.
- Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or a GED certificate.
- Must be between the ages of 17 and 35.
- Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards.
