About the role

As a Light-Wheel Vehicle Mechanic for the Army National Guard, you will ensure that wheeled vehicles and their associated trailers and material handling equipment are ready for deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain wheeled vehicles and associated equipment systems
  • Service automotive electrical systems, including wiring harness and charging systems
  • Perform recovery operations
  • Inspect, service, maintain, repair, test, adjust, and replace systems and components

Requirements

  • Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or GED certificate
  • Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
  • Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
  • Must meet citizenship requirements (see NATIONALGUARD.com for details)

Qualifications

  • Military enlistment in the Army National Guard

Skills

  • Interest in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical problems
  • Interest in automotive engines and how they work

Schedule

Participation in Basic Training (10 weeks) and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) (13 weeks).

Pay

Actual pay range is between $200 and $250 per drill weekend, subject to change.
