About the role
As a Light-Wheel Vehicle Mechanic for the Army National Guard, you will ensure that wheeled vehicles, trailers, and material handling equipment are ready for operation. Your primary responsibilities include inspecting, servicing, maintaining, repairing, testing, adjusting, and replacing systems and components; performing recovery operations; and servicing electrical systems, including wiring harnesses and charging systems.
Responsibilities
- Maintain wheeled vehicles and associated trailers and material handling equipment systems
- Service automotive electrical systems, including wiring harness and starting and charging systems
- Perform recovery operations
Requirements
- Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or GED certificate
- Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
- Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
- Must meet citizenship requirements (see NATIONALGUARD.com for details)

Schedule
- Basic Training: 10 weeks
- Advanced Individual Training (AIT): 13 weeks
Pay
- Between $200 and $250 per drill weekend, subject to change
