About the role

As a Data Engineer, you will design data models, build data warehouses and data lakes, automate data pipelines, and work with datasets of all sizes. You will optimize overall data and information flow by reducing redundancy and enabling accessibility within security boundaries. The role involves applying extraction, transformation, and loading techniques to connect large data sets from a variety of sources, creating data collection frameworks for both structured and unstructured data, and developing cyber and operational analytic tools for downstream product optimization. You will also establish standards, tools, processes, and governance for capturing, modeling, storing, and delivering enterprise data.

Responsibilities

• Design data models and construct data warehouses and data lakes.
• Automate data pipelines and manage datasets of all sizes.
• Optimize data/information flow by reducing redundancy and ensuring accessibility within security boundaries.
• Apply ETL techniques to integrate large data sets from diverse sources.
• Create data collection frameworks for structured and unstructured data.
• Develop cyber and operational analytic tools for downstream product development.
• Construct dataset procedures to support data mining, modeling, and production.
• Establish and maintain standards, tools, processes, and governance for enterprise data capture, modeling, storage, and delivery.

Requirements

• Top Secret (TS/SCI) clearance with a polygraph.
• Experience levels (choose appropriate level):
  • Developmental – 0‑2 years
  • Full Performance – 3‑5 years
  • Senior – 6‑10 years
  • Expert – 11‑15 years
  • SME – 16+ years

Preferred Skills

• Minimum 11 years of experience as a Data Engineer (Systems Engineer background).
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
• Experience integrating diverse data streams.
• Familiarity with data transfer tools (e.g., NiFi, Cribl).
• Establishing data standards and acting as custodian of IT and service‑delivery data sets and streams.
• Analyzing complex networks and systems.
• Analyzing log data from various network components and operating systems.
• Knowledge of environments with shared networks and multiple security enclaves.
• Ability to manage and troubleshoot data feeds.
• Splunk familiarity.
• Python proficiency.

Optional Requirements

• Security Development and Operations (SecDevOps) experience.
• Hands‑on Splunk experience and certifications.
• Scripting tools: Python, ShellScript, Ansible.
• Cloud security controls and implementation.
• Public, private, and hybrid cloud experience (AWS, Microsoft Azure, etc.).
• AWS Certified Security Specialty.

Pay

Up to $225,000 per year.
