About the role

Qualifications

• High School Degree required; Associate's Degree or at least 2 years of college credit preferred
• Effective interpersonal skills, positive attitude and a desire to work with children
• Strong organizational skills
• Computer literate, including a working knowledge of email use and word processing software
• Current certification in First Aid and CPR
• Submission of PA School Personnel Health form
• Current Act 34, Act 151 and Act 114 clearances

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher with implementation of individual and group instruction, testing and assessment procedures
• Assist the classroom teacher in the care and management of students in the classroom and other areas, such as special subject areas, lunch room, playground, and bus duty
• Assist the classroom teacher by preparing instructional and classroom materials
• Assist the classroom teacher by performing duties required to optimize instruction
• Assist students by reading questions, passages from text and tests following teacher's instructions
• Assist with collection of data relevant to students' needs (academic, behavioral, functional skills)
• Maintain accurate student data and records, as well as communication with the case manager
• Assist skills related to personal and social self-sufficiency, which may include but is not limited to, toileting, feeding, personal hygiene
• Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of the facilitator and classroom teachers
• Support students with emotional or behavior concerns and assist them in developing appropriate social skills
• Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans for the students and monitor their progress

Pay and Schedule

183 days per year; 6.75 hours per day. Starting at $18.00/ hour or $18.50/ hour with a Bachelor's Degree or Higher. Salary and benefits according to the negotiated agreement between the Board of School Directors and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 384.
