Requirements

• High School Diploma (required); BA/BS in Education (preferred)
• High school or college participation in athletics
• Sports First Aid or Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries (or equivalent)
• Concussion in Sports – What You Need to Know certification (must be renewed annually)
• Knowledge of the sport
• Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others
• Physical requirements: hand-eye/mind-eye coordination, physical dexterity, ability to bend, stoop, walk, talk, and sit; ability to travel between locations

Responsibilities

• Issue equipment and supervise students’ care of it; check in and inventory equipment at the end of the season
• Supervise physical examinations and ensure every athlete returns the necessary form signed by a doctor and parent
• Promote a style of play consistent with the scope and sequence of the total program
• Prepare a daily practice schedule and continually improve coaching techniques
• Dress appropriately for coaching duties at practice and game time
• Adhere to policies and procedures established by the Sioux Falls School District
• Administer first aid to injured players and take appropriate action (e.g., notifying family doctor, parent, athletic director, and building principal)
• Communicate professionally between officials and coaches
• Attend rules meetings and be familiar with the rules of the game
• Attend coaches meetings as deemed necessary by the Coordinator of Athletics
• Perform other duties as assigned

Pay

Season pay starting at $2,022.00 (2026–2027 Extra Duty Pay).
