Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality reading and literacy instruction aligned to Connecticut Core Standards and district curriculum.
  • Implement evidence-based literacy practices that support reading comprehension, vocabulary development, writing, critical thinking, and analysis of complex texts.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with IEPs, 504 Plans, and advanced learners.
  • Utilize assessment data, including district benchmark assessments and classroom-based measures, to monitor student progress and inform instructional planning.
  • Create a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom culture that promotes student ownership of learning and academic success.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, interventionists, special educators, and related service providers to support student achievement.
  • Participate actively in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), data team meetings, and district professional development.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, instructional goals, and opportunities for support.
  • Integrate instructional technology and digital resources to enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Support Woodstock Public Schools' focus on continuous improvement, student leadership, and positive school culture.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reporting requirements in accordance with district expectations.

Qualifications

  • Connecticut State Department of Education Certification: 015 English 7–12, or Other appropriate Connecticut certification as determined by the district.
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Experience teaching reading, literacy, English Language Arts, or intervention services at the middle school level preferred.
  • Familiarity with MTSS/SRBI processes, progress monitoring, and data-informed instruction preferred.
  • Experience utilizing educational technology and digital learning platforms.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and collaboration.

Pay

Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Woodstock Association of Teachers collective bargaining agreement.
