7th Grade Middle School Girls Basketball Coach

Location: Northridge Middle School, Johnstown, Ohio

Position Type: Coaching/Supplemental

Reports To: Athletic Director

Position Summary

Northridge Middle School is seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and student‑centered Girls 7th Grade Basketball Coach to lead and develop a competitive middle school basketball program. The ideal candidate will foster athletic excellence, sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth among student‑athletes.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and conduct all varsity basketball practices, games, and team activities
• Develop and implement offensive and defensive strategies
• Promote a positive team culture emphasizing discipline, respect, and accountability
• Monitor academic progress and support student‑athlete success in the classroom
• Supervise and collaborate with assistant coaches and program staff
• Ensure compliance with all Ohio school athletic association rules and school policies
• Coordinate scheduling, travel, equipment, and program logistics
• Communicate effectively with players, parents, school staff, and administration
• Organize offseason training, conditioning, and skill development opportunities

Qualifications

• Previous coaching experience (middle school or higher preferred)
• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategy, and player development
• Ability to mentor and motivate high school student‑athletes
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful team environment

Requirements

• Valid Ohio coaching permit or ability to obtain one
• Completion of required certifications (CPR, First Aid, concussion training, etc.)
• Successful background check in accordance with Ohio law
• Availability for practices, games, and team events (including evenings and weekends)

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior coaching experience
• Experience working within a school‑based athletic program
• Background in strength and conditioning or athletic development

Pay

Stipend based on experience and district pay scale.
