7D Bus Drivers/Monitors

About the role

The Center School and Transportation Options have openings for 7D Drivers, providing specialized transportation services to special education students served by our schools—a great way to get experience in the education field.

Schedule

• Per diem positions, Monday through Friday
• Up to 25 hours per week
• Most runs are early morning and late afternoon
• No weekend work
• Can lead to full-time employment as an Interventionist with our private schools and school-based programs

Responsibilities

• Safely and courteously transports students and other staff members as assigned, utilizing the transportation environment as an extension of the classroom
• Engages students in meaningful conversations and activities as appropriate
• Assists students in boarding and exiting the vehicle and assures safety restraints are utilized per state law
• Provides safe transportation of special education students to and from the educational setting, based on assigned or covering routes
• Assist students to safely enter and exit the vehicle as needed, often with the assistance of a trained Monitor
• Operate vehicle in accordance with all Federal and State traffic regulations
• Complete all required documentation and record keeping as required
• Perform regular vehicle safety checks

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (proof required upon hire)
• Current 7D Student Pupil Transport License
• Documentation of a good driving record
• Ability to communicate effectively and clearly with parents and school/TO staff
• Patience, reliability, and an interest in working with students with social/emotional/behavioral issues
• Part of a random screening pool for alcohol and other drugs
• Must complete background check process including CORI, SORI, Fingerprinting, and DCF background checks

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred
• High School/Trade School degree preferred
• Citizenship, residency, or work visa required

Pay

$21.00 per hour and includes Earned Sick Time accrual.
