About the role
Shift Details: Mon-Thur 7am-7pm
Location: Milford, NH - Onsite
Hourly Range: $26.00 - $32.00 per hour (shift differential applies), based on experience.
Responsibilities
- Complies with company safety rules at all times during working hours and ensures the safety of himself/herself and others at his/her operating station.
- Responsible in keeping equipment and work area in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Mechanically sets up the entire line by selecting and installing appropriate extruder tooling and associated line components needed to manufacture the varying cable designs described by the engineering specification.
- Consistently monitors the supply of raw material to ensure a continuous operation.
- Maintains and operates the welder used to weld conductors together to ensure continuous operation of the line.
- Set-up and operate the pay-off and take-up equipment.
- Takes preventive measures on line components that can lead to unwarranted downtime.
- Performs required measurements with company approved measuring devices to ensure that all aspects of the extrusion process meets or exceeds the required specifications (Reference SLP 024).
- Generates product identification tags for extruded cable products and maintains accurate record keeping and data collection of all pertinent information required by Hendrix, including line quality records.
- Prepares extruded cable for electrical testing when applicable.
- Takes corrective action to ensure quality product.
- Participates in scheduled team meetings and contributes to continuous improvement projects.
- Participates in maintaining ISO certification.
- Adheres to applicable System Level Procedures (SLP).
- Responsible to be the Emergency Action Warden for sector 5. Take-Up operator is considered the primary. Operator is considered secondary and is responsible to assume duties of the primary Emergency Action Warden if he/she is unavailable or is not able to fulfill this function.
Qualifications
- Must understand the operation of the entire line including:
- Conceptual understanding of extrusion process.
- Conductors Assembly, disassembly and cleaning of extruder heads.
- Selection and installation of extruder screws.
- Tooling selection, Compound conveyor system, Dryers.
- Power switches. Temperature, air, water controls, and other associated line instrumentation.
- Operation of payoff and take-up equipment.
- Coil and ground wire cutting operations.
- Internal/industry codes and abbreviations used to identify compounds and conductors.
- ISO requirements pertaining to the Aerial line.
- Principles of conductor welding (dies, etc.).
- Product quality, Material contamination, Voids, Strand shield protrusion.
Skills and Abilities
- Proven mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to read micrometers and other related precision tools.
- Weld conductor.
- Perform shop arithmetic.
- Read and follow written instructions.
- Communicate effectively to receive and pass on information and instruction.
- Troubleshoot basic line problems.
- Continuously pay attention to details.
- Read and interpret gauges.
- Fulfill simple computer tasks.
- Work within a Team structure.
