6th GRADE JV Volleyball Coach

Phoenix-Talent School District #4 is seeking applications for the 6th Grade JV Volleyball Coach position at Talent Middle School for the 2026-2027 school year.

About the Role

This extra-duty position reports to the Athletic Director and Building Principal. Salary is determined by the negotiated salary schedule and current memorandums of understanding with the collective bargaining unit.

Responsibilities

• Coach JV volleyball athletes in the basics and fundamentals, including skills, drills, and practices.
• Maintain inventory of equipment, uniforms, and paperwork.
• Serve as a positive role model on and off the field, ensuring the safety of all athletes.
• Help students achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for discipline and sportsmanship, and increased self-esteem.
• Supervise the team on the field, in the locker room, and during bus trips.
• Maintain equipment, accurate records, supplies, and inventory.

Requirements

• Successful middle school coaching experience.
• Adherence to the sports philosophy of Phoenix-Talent Schools.
• Ability to model high standards of behavior.
• Meet coaching certification requirements: FA/CPR, Concussion Training, Anabolic Steroid awareness, blood-borne pathogen training, etc.
• Experience coaching volleyball preferred.
• Meet required driver’s training for activity van usage.
• Flexible work schedule to accommodate practices and matches.

Qualifications

• Preference may be given to candidates who hold a valid Oregon teaching license.
• Preference may be given to bilingual candidates (Spanish and English).

Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated annually based on District #4 goals and objectives, as well as the responsibilities outlined for this position.
