6th/7th Grade Social Studies Teacher at Ivy Prep Academy

About the Role

The 6th/7th Grade Social Studies Teacher is responsible for educating assigned students, creating a flexible program and classroom environment conducive to learning and personal growth. The teacher will establish rapport with students, motivate them to develop essential skills, attitudes, and knowledge, and maintain professional relationships with staff and parents.

Responsibilities

• Teach subject matter using the course of study adopted by the Board of Education, incorporating appropriate learning activities.
• Develop lesson plans, adapt curriculum to meet individual student needs, and use effective teaching techniques.
• Utilize computers and other technological classroom support equipment in student instruction.
• Maintain classroom organization, discipline, and a safe learning environment.
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
• Evaluate student progress using appropriate techniques and maintain records of academic and personal growth.
• Communicate with parents regarding student progress and interpret school programs.
• Collaborate with other professional staff in academic and personal growth areas.
• Demonstrate professional ethics as outlined by the Georgia Professional Standards Committee.
• Conform to District policies, including attendance, absences, and evaluations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Georgia Educator’s Certificate preferred but not required.
• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• 1+ years of experience.
