6 Hour Bus Driver

Position Summary

Position requires the transportation of Mid-Del students grades K-12th. Driver will be required to pick-up students at specific stops and safely transport to school in the AM and then back home in the PM. Opportunities will be given to assist with field trips on a voluntary basis.

Qualification Requirements

• Able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
• Ability to obtain or hold a minimum CDL, Class B license with all required endorsements and school bus certification (training can and will be provided)
• Pass physical, drug testing, background felony check, and background drive check
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Obeys all traffic laws and observes all mandatory safety regulations
• Maintains discipline when students are on the bus
• Reports undisciplined student to the proper authority
• Performs proper pre-trip and post-trip inspections
• Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness
• Discharges students only at authorized stops
• Reports accidents and completes required reports
• Exhibits professional conduct at all times
• Fulfills Board Policy to exhibit dress and appearance that is neat, clean and orderly
• Adds additional duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor or above

Language And Grammar Skills

• Reads and comprehends simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
• Composes and writes grammatically correct correspondence and memos

Reasoning Ability

• Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
• Reach with hands and arms
• Talk or hear
• Frequently stands, walks, climbs or balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls
• Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 100 pounds, frequently lifts and/or moves more than 100 pounds, and frequently lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds
• Regularly exposed to fume or airborne particles
• Frequent exposure to high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions
• Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, extreme cold (including outdoors), extreme heat (including direct sunlight), risk of electrical shock and vibration
• Work environment varies from somewhat loud to extremely loud
