5th Grade Math Teacher and K-8 Tutor, St. Nicholas Gig Harbor
Saint Nicholas Catholic School in Gig Harbor seeks a detail-oriented and committed part-time 5th Grade Math Teacher and K-8 Tutor for the 2025-26 school year. About the role
To support students in developing strong foundational and advanced 5th-grade math skills. To foster confidence, curiosity, and perseverance in mathematical thinking. To provide individualized and small-group instruction that supports diverse learning needs. To help students recognize the beauty, order, and logic of mathematics as part of God's creation.
Responsibilities
- Provide clear, structured, and engaging 5th-grade math lessons aligned with curriculum standards.
- Offer one-on-one tutoring to reinforce concepts and address learning gaps.
- Evaluate and report each student's mathematical growth, understanding, and skill development.
- Prepare intentional, well-sequenced lessons and practice materials.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to support student progress and align instructional goals.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Maintain a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment.
Qualifications
- Math proficiency.
- Valid Washington State Teacher Certification.
- Bachelor's Degree in Education with a major or minor in Mathematics or a related field.
- Practicing Catholic (preferred).
Schedule
21.5 hours per week.
Pay
Starts at $26,000. Salary is determined based on internal equity, market data, applicant's skills, prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.
