Our Assistant Store Managers are key to fostering a passionate community around sporting and fashion goods.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Act as Manager on Duty for employee scheduling issues, customer complaints, etc. when Store Manager is not present.
  • Manage store associates through LIDS Training Programs, goal setting, and regular follow-up when Store Manager is not present.
  • Administer progressive steps of discipline, including verbal and written warnings, in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Engage team members by creating a fun and productive environment and helping them understand how their work supports company objectives and the store's success.
  • Contribute to a respectful and inclusive team environment by establishing supportive relationships and adhering to Lids Brand Standards.
  • Schedule and staff the store, including calling in associates for unexpected peaks when the Store Manager is not present.
  • Participate in LIDS Training Programs, adhere to set goals, and regularly follow up.
  • Aid in recruiting and training store personnel on proper store operations and procedures.
  • Encourage store associates' compliance with established company policies, procedures, and guidelines, including safekeeping of company inventory, funds, and property.
  • Assist in executing operations-focused company-level directives, promotions, and initiatives.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by understanding and adhering to Policies & Procedures Manual.
  • Manage store technology and equipment, conducting daily audits, verifying functionality, facilitating updates and maintenance, or ordering repairs as needed.
  • Maintain store facilities, supplies, and services by executing service requests, assessing needs, placing repair work orders, or replenishing store supplies.
  • Effectively manage cash by accurately opening and closing the till, using counterfeit protection practices, and consistent bank drops.
  • Prepare the store for inventory audits and support them as needed to confirm inventory accuracy.
  • Open and close the store as required following the procedures per the Operations P&P Manual.
  • Protect Company assets within guidelines of LIDS Retail policies.
  • Aid in preparing store work schedules that provide proper coverage and are within wage control guidelines.
  • Accurately manage store inventory, including receiving, transferring, completing price changes, and conducting product counts.
  • Strategically organize the backroom to maximize efficiency and manage window activations, hardware flips, mannequin flips, and seasonal or weekly merchandise changes.
  • Maintain the store's look and feel through day-to-day visual merchandising and store actions (e.g., ensuring product recovery, restocking, destocking, or minor VM changes).
  • Execute special pricing signage and promotional presentations during operating hours to align with overall product sell-through strategy.

Job Required Knowledge & Skills

  • Established ability to produce sales results while minimizing loss.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate verbally in a clear professional manner.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.

Physical Demands & Requirements

  • Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally climb a ladder and work with hands overhead.
  • Constantly stand on shift.
  • Frequently walk on shift.
  • Frequently hear and communicate verbally with customers, employees, and other personnel.
  • Frequently visually observe the store and read written or digital information.
  • Frequently operate a computer and mobile Point-of-Sale system, as well as maneuver relative software programs.

Additional Information

The hourly range for this position represents base pay only. The base pay offered will consider internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, scheduled hours, and experience, among other factors.
