Responsibilities

  • Hold high ethical and professional standards.
  • Be an appropriate role model for high school student-athletes.
  • Hold high expectations and accountability academically and behaviorally for all student-athletes and coaching staff.
  • Develop, articulate, and implement a vision for the program.
  • Work in a cooperative and harmonious manner in an educationally based, school-wide athletic program.
  • Experience leading a comprehensive high school athletic program preferred.
  • Be relationship/process oriented.
  • Understand and provide information regarding eligibility, tryout process, cut process, and all other team-related information to include lettering, team rules, etc.
  • Communicate effectively with ALL stakeholders.
  • Recommend/assist in scheduling for your sport to the Athletic Director.
  • Be readily accessible and visible to the athletes at all levels of the program.
  • Other duties as assigned by Athletic Director.

Requirements

  • NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching (one-time requirement, previous completion will be recognized).
  • Concussion in Sports (yearly).
  • Heat Illness Prevention (every 4 years).
  • District Background check.
  • Appearance and Performance Enhancing Drugs and Substances Training (every 4 years).
  • Heads up certification (Yearly) (Football only).
  • First Aid/CPR/AED (every 2 years) (paid coaches only).
  • Bend-La Pine Safe Schools Trainings (Yearly).

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching.
  • Experience leading a comprehensive high school athletic program.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in an educational setting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Ability to understand and provide information regarding eligibility, tryout process, cut process, and team-related information.
  • Ability to recommend and assist in scheduling for the sport.

Pay

The pay for this position is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
