What You'll Do

  • Machine Operation & Setup
  • Operate 5-axis CNC machines to manufacture complex aerospace components with tight tolerances.
  • Perform complete machine setups, including tooling, fixtures, offsets, and workholding.
  • Load, verify, and adjust CNC programs to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Monitor machining operations and make real-time adjustments to maintain quality and performance.
  • Production & Quality
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, and work instructions.
  • Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
  • Ensure all components meet aerospace tolerances and quality standards.
  • Identify and document non-conforming parts in accordance with quality procedures.
  • Process Control & Troubleshooting
  • Diagnose and resolve machining issues such as tool wear, chatter, and offset discrepancies.
  • Optimize feeds, speeds, and tool paths to improve efficiency and part quality.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancements.
  • Maintenance & Safety
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance (coolant checks, lubrication, cleaning).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Adhere to all OSHA, company safety policies, and aerospace compliance standards.
  • Collaboration & Documentation
  • Partner with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Accurately complete job travelers, ERP entries, and production documentation.
  • Aid in training and mentoring junior team members as needed.

What You Bring

  • A high school diploma or GED (technical certification preferred).
  • 2–5+ years of experience operating 5-axis CNC machines in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
  • Ability to independently perform machine setups.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in aerospace or high-precision manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam) and G-code programming.
  • Experience machining aluminum, composites, or aerospace alloys.
  • Knowledge of process optimization and continuous improvement practices.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to perform repetitive and precision tasks.
  • Ability to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach as required to perform job duties.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, including talking and hearing.
  • Ability to work in, on, around, and in proximity to large structures, equipment, and tooling.
  • Ability to lift, push, and/or carry items up to 40 pounds as required.
  • Ability to work near moving mechanical parts and equipment.
  • Ability to work in and around tight or confined spaces.
  • Ability to work in environments that may include exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and/or hazardous materials (e.g., carbon fiber).
