Starting hourly rate: $17.75 USD per hour.
Pay range: $17.75 USD – $26.65 USD per hour.

About the role

Target’s mission is to help families discover the joy of everyday life. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team ensures a consistent guest experience by keeping products set, in‑stock, accurately priced, and properly signed on the sales floor. This team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, inventory accuracy, presentation, pricing, and promotional signing for all General Merchandise areas, as well as Food & Beverage and Food Service, providing a fresh and food‑safe environment. Inbound Experts gain guest‑service fundamentals, retail business knowledge, and experience executing daily workloads to support business priorities and sales goals.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests within 10 ft with a friendly smile and eye contact; greet within 4 ft with a warm, helpful interaction.
• Assist guests in finding items, resolve issues, and end each transaction with a sincere thank you.
• Support team efforts and assist peers in other areas while maintaining a positive, respectful attitude.
• Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy and inspiring experience.
• Execute detailed, accurate, and efficient sorting operations.
• Stock, organize, and store reserve product; straighten merchandise on the sales floor.
• Maintain product availability for General Merchandise categories.
• If certified, operate powered equipment while unloading freight or moving merchandise.
• Process defective merchandise and handle environmentally sensitive items in compliance with applicable laws.
• Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; report and correct hazards.
• Support guest services such as backup cashier, order‑pick‑up (OPU), and Drive‑Up (DU) while complying with federal, state, and local adult‑beverage laws.
• Perform all other duties based on business needs.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members.
• Ability to communicate on multiple‑frequency devices, operate handheld scanners, and use other technology as directed.
• Capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
• Resolve guest questions quickly on the spot.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow multi‑step processes.
• Maintain focus and composure in a fast‑paced environment; manage multiple tasks within established timeframes.
• Accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
• Climb ladders, scan, handle, and move merchandise safely, frequently lifting up to 44 lb without assistance.
• Flexible schedule (including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping times) and ability to work scheduled shifts with required breaks.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements (e.g., Drive‑Up, carry‑out areas).
• Maintain mobility for the duration of a shift.
