About the role

The Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for assisting PHIT Nursing Leadership with the clinical operations of a home care team and providing support to the clinical staff. In this role, he/she will function to support clinical operations and the provision of care delivery. He/she will review clinical documentation, complete supervisory visits, and participate in other quality and regulatory activities. The Assistant Nurse Manager will conduct team care meetings and assist staff with day-to-day operations regarding patient care. The Assistant Nurse Manager will also have administrative on-call duties for PHIT.

Responsibilities

  • Operations: Provides oversight for clinical staff on clinical staff case management and direct clinical care, regulatory compliance, review of new products and services, and coordination of orientation activities between team and nurse educators. Completes routine and crisis communication throughout the department as they arise and promotes efforts to improve cost-effective quality patient care. Establishes improvement priorities and sponsors improvement activities within Caring Way. Ensures that staffing and schedules provide safe, effective, and high-quality care. Ensures that all regulatory requirements are met and that staff is fully utilizing materials, staff, and financial resources.
  • Staff Training and Education: Participates in the selection, career development, and annual performance review of staff and peers as requested. Addresses performance issues immediately and directly. Observes staff service skills with all patients and coaches to improve performance. Implements best practices for sustained performance improvements. Builds strategic, clinical, and business literacy through staff education and communication. Builds measurement systems to track performance improvement initiatives. Fosters the continual integration of UPHS research and education activities into clinical operational processes.
  • Staff Development: Shares resources, information, and collaborates with fellow team members across boundaries to ensure patients and other customers' needs are met. Provides access to staff to needed information and resources. Works with other departments to maintain systems and staff resources. Develops strategies into action plans that assist with setting customer-focused performance expectations. Works with nurses within Caring Way with rapid and effective implementation of best practices. Reviews and monitors quality data and assists director in creating action plans to meet quality goals.
  • Patient and Customer: Ensures patient/customer satisfaction through complete and continuous measurement of satisfaction levels. Works with Clinical Departments, UPHS Partners, and Suppliers to develop patient programs and services that anticipate future customer needs. Delivers patient/customer service seamlessly across system boundaries. Ensures patient/customer/family safety and confidentiality. Takes action to make up for lapses in service. Builds relationships with managers throughout the organization to ensure problem-solving and good communication hand-offs for patients and families.
  • Patient Care: Provides patient care/case management to a small group of patients as a method of ensuring clinical competency.

Collaborates with supervisor in developing annual work plans and goals. Schedules opportunities for feedback from supervisor. Collaborates with supervisor in developing an annual learning plan. Requirements

  • Registered Nurse - NJ (Required)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
  • Oncology Certified RN (Required)
  • Driver's License (Required)
  • Car Insurance (Required)
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required)
  • 2+ years progressive nursing experience in the setting of a home care, home health agency, or home infusion company
