Position Summary

The Mohs Histotech in Hickory, NC, plays a vital role in supporting our Mohs surgical team by preparing and processing tissue specimens with precision and efficiency. This position is responsible for producing high-quality slides, maintaining laboratory quality standards, and contributing to exceptional patient outcomes in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Prepare and section frozen tissue specimens using Mohs micrographic surgical techniques
  • Process, embed, and stain tissue samples accurately to facilitate examination by the Mohs surgeon
  • Perform quality assurance procedures to ensure slides meet laboratory and clinical standards
  • Document all procedures according to established protocols and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and perform routine troubleshooting as needed
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, CLIA, and all applicable safety and regulatory standards
  • Collaborate closely with clinical and surgical teams to support efficient workflow and outstanding patient care
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sterile laboratory environment
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development to stay current with histology techniques and best practices
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support laboratory and clinical operations

Requirements

  • Educational and/or Experience Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Histotechnology or related discipline required. Certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL) by ASCP is highly preferred. Previous experience in Mohs histotechnology preferred.
  • Skills: Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills, effective verbal and written communication abilities, ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team.
