About the role

The therapist is responsible for the evaluation and treatment of patients referred to the facility. This includes patient evaluation, development and implementation of an appropriate treatment plan, delivery of treatment services, and comprehensive discharge planning. The therapist functions as an effective team member and contributes to the development and achievement of department and organizational goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and implements competent therapy treatment and provides regular re-assessments to modify treatment, maximizing patients’ potential for functional independence, in accordance with practice guidelines and department policies.
  • Communicates patient status (e.g., evaluation results, treatment plan, and goals) through timely written or verbal communication to physicians and therapy customers (e.g., patients).
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relations with patients, family members, internal customers, and external customers.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the financial implications of treatment costs and resources, providing cost-effective treatment programming.
  • Ensures patient charges and clinical documentation comply with regulatory standards and department policies.
  • Oversees rehab technicians, therapy assistants, and students consistent with discipline practice acts and organizational policies.
  • Self-monitors workflow to ensure productivity, standards of practice, and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Actively participates in program development, performance improvement activities, and community events.
  • Responds to feedback and concerns professionally, demonstrating effective listening, problem-solving, and participatory management.
  • Assists with interviewing, selecting, and orienting new personnel.
  • Completes required documentation and maintains records to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Serves as a role model by demonstrating commitment to professional growth, department growth, and competency.
  • Organizes job duties and responsibilities efficiently to maintain productivity.
  • Actively participates in departmental/programmatic meetings, constructively expressing concerns and ideas.
  • Escalates equipment, supply needs, and gaps through appropriate pathways.
  • Assumes additional leadership responsibilities to support department goals as needed.
  • Maintains equipment and environment in a safe and orderly manner.
  • Contributes to the organization and operation of the department/programs within the organization’s strategic plan and mission.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • BS, MS, or Doctorate level degree from an accredited college or university (required).
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Kentucky or State of Indiana, as appropriate to the facility (required).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (required).
