About the role
The Shift Superintendent oversees and directs all manufacturing functions on their assigned shift, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, company policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and communicate production goals with cross-functional teams.
- Review and adjust production schedules to maximize throughput and efficiency.
- Establish and enforce goals, performance targets, and standards for the production function.
- Motivate supervisors and employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
- Lead shift cross-functional meetings involving staff, operations, and key metrics.
- Develop and analyze production data and respond to plant reports.
- Interact with all functional groups to ensure smooth operations.
- Work with Human Resources on staffing issues and personnel management.
- Provide guidance, development, mentorship, and leadership to direct reports.
- Conduct performance reviews on direct reports and address any issues.
- Ensure a safe work environment by complying with safety and environmental policies.
- Participate in special projects as directed by the manager.
- Maintain a clean and organized facility.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, management, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong manufacturing background, particularly in the automotive industry, is preferred.
- Supervisory experience is required.
- Excellent written, verbal, listening, and observational communication skills are essential.
- The ability to understand and implement goals and objectives is necessary.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to gather, interpret, and analyze information, are required.
- Proficiency in PC-based computing, including word processing (Word), spreadsheet (Excel), and presentation (PowerPoint) software, is essential.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, management, or related field preferred or combination of education and experience.

- Strong manufacturing background, preferably in the automotive industry.
