About the role
This fully on-site position in Waterbury, CT involves operating Sendzimir Z-mills to produce materials that meet precise specifications. The role requires monitoring machine parameters, ensuring product quality, and collaborating with team members to maximize efficiency and safety.
Responsibilities
- Comply with all safety rules and regulations, including PPE and Job Safety Practice documents.
- Read, understand, and follow work instructions specific to the equipment.
- Detect and report faulty operations, improper material, and unusual conditions.
- Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
- Set up and operate Sendzimir Z-mills, monitoring material and machine parameters to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Determine proper roll combinations to achieve desired shape and surface finish.
- Use electronic contact and non-contact gauges, indicators, and controls to operate machinery and inspect products.
- Check material for proper gauge, surface finish, or other properties and communicate with the metrology lab to ensure specifications are met.
- Move material using forklifts, transporters, cranes, and pallet jacks.
- Direct the work of mill helpers to maximize machine uptime, quality, and productivity.
- Operate rewind equipment, steel sleeves, and mill blocks.
- Perform light maintenance, such as changing and cleaning work rolls, intermediate rolls, and bearings.
- Perform other related duties or flex to other areas of the plant as required.
Requirements
- Ability to read and write English.
- Ability to maintain production records and logs.
- Employment record reflecting reliability and above-average attendance.
- 3-5 years of experience running Sendzimir Z-mills or other related rolling machinery.
- Ability to perform simple math, including addition and subtraction.
- Familiarity with using micrometers and calipers.
- Excellent decision-making skills and organizational ability.
- Mechanically inclined with comfort using small hand tools.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.

Pay
Hourly pay range: $30.20 – $32.20 per hour, with a $0.55/hour shift differential. Pay is determined by factors such as experience, industry knowledge, technical skills, and education.
Schedule
3rd Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM, with weekly pay.
