About the Role
Maintain and lubricate all machinery, safeguard company property, and keep all equipment operating at optimal levels. Perform tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Team Leader and Plant Manager.
Responsibilities
- Perform safe and efficient machine and daily procedures.
- Maintain cooling water systems to mills, Bunbury's, and other machinery in the plant.
- Inspect and maintain air compressors.
- Ensure all lockout/tagout procedures are followed properly when working on equipment.
- Maintain a clean work area to reduce safety hazards.
- Remain on call for emergencies.
- Support operators by providing training.
- Complete preventative maintenance work orders and reactive maintenance repair logs.
- Create improvement proposals and execute tasks resulting from them.
- Complete administrative tasks as needed.
- Participate in problem analysis, identification of root causes, and implementation of permanent solutions.
- Work with outside contractors and ensure they follow proper sign-in and out procedures.
- Ensure a Job Safety Analysis (JSA) is completed when needed by outside contractors.
- Add chemicals to water in pump house as needed.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
- Maintain company safety, housekeeping, and environmental standards.
- Apply the RMA 7S for Success standards to work area and all tasks.
- Uphold the RMA Code of Conduct standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager and Plant Manager.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Two years of experience and technical knowledge in electrical and mechanical maintenance of equipment, military experience in a technical field, or an Associate Degree in a technical field (preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret manufacturing specifications.
- Two to five years of industrial maintenance experience (preferred).
- Proficient in both electrical and mechanical knowledge and abilities.
- Pumping system and conveyor system maintenance experience (preferred).
- Knowledge of Computerized Management Systems (e.g., SAP or Maximo).
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, email, etc.).
- Ability to cover other shifts as needed (due to PTO or leave).
- Strong knowledge of electricity, mechanics, hydraulics, and/or pneumatics in a manufacturing environment (preferred).
- Experience changing out bearings and motors (preferred).
- PLC and automated systems education and/or experience (preferred).
- Forklift license required.
- Ability to operate scissors and two-man lifts.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for 8 hours per day.
- Ability to sit, stoop, walk, talk, read, and write.
- Agility to maneuver up and down stairs, ladders, and in other challenging areas.
- Good eye-hand coordination.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.
