Troubleshooting and Repair

Performs routine preventative maintenance and emergency repairs on all Distribution Center powered industrial trucks.

Follows work orders to achieve productivity. Develops knowledge base of different systems within the Distribution Center. Initiates and implements new procedures and creates designs to keep equipment/systems operating at 100% efficiency.

Communicates effectively with others to minimize potential downtime of equipment. Ensures workmanship is of highest quality. Completes the daily P.I.T. checklist to ensure equipment is working properly and reports any defects to management and/or maintenance.

Maintains an organized work area and promotes a safe working environment with the Maintenance department. Operates P.I.T. equipment in a safe manner. Follows set safety procedures and guidelines to maximize personal safety.

Position Requirements

  • Education: High School preferred. Experience: Two plus years of industrial maintenance experience on forklifts or related equipment (verifiable) or one of the following equivalents: 1 year industrial maintenance experience and have certificates of completion for formal schooling in hydraulics, electricity or electronics.
  • Forklift Technician III must be proficient in three of the following seven categories: Electronic/Electrical, Battery Equipment, Other Equipment (scrubber, boomlift, etc.), Machining/Lathe/Mill, MHE Mechanical Systems, Welding, Hydraulics.
  • Must have own set of basic hand tools.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to perform essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. Frequent lifting up to 70 pounds. Requires frequent lifting, walking, standing, moderate climbing, occasional sitting, stooping and kneeling.

Working Conditions

  • Climate controlled atmosphere, exposure to adverse weather conditions, working on platforms raised up to 60 feet, exposure to moving mechanical parts or equipment, fumes and airborne particles, exposure to potentially volatile, flammable, combustible chemicals, and operation of a motor vehicle, palletized equipment, machinery or power tools.

Availability

  • Shift work, willingness to work overtime, weekends and/or holidays.
