Responsibilities

  • Aid in the operation, maintenance, and repair of propulsion and auxiliary machinery.
  • Perform routine inspections of engine room systems, including fuel, lubrication, cooling, and electrical systems.
  • Support troubleshooting, repairs, and overhauls of mechanical and electrical components.
  • Maintain a safe and compliant engine room environment by adhering to maritime safety protocols and pollution prevention regulations.
  • Regularly review and monitor compliance with safe work systems and maintenance procedures.
  • Own various equipment systems and ensure robust preventive maintenance plans, procedures, and spare parts are in place.
  • Support monitoring, surveillance, and optimization of key process and utility systems.
  • Support operators in surveillance of critical equipment to process systems.
  • Perform ESP duties including shift handover, start of shift orientation, shift team meeting and planning, end of shift reporting, proactive technical monitoring, managing abnormal situations, etc.
  • Ensure HSE case and SEMS compliance, ICS, and proactive technical monitoring.
  • Maintain readiness of lifesaving equipment.
  • Participate in Hazard Management reviews.
  • Create Local Work Instructions, Site Specific Task Lists, and BOMs.
  • Review and provide input to Maintenance of Control Measures (MOCs) or variances.
  • Perform MIE duties, including performing PMs, routine CMs, support of major equipment break-ins, and maintenance records management.
  • Direct the activities of marine maintenance staff to minimize risk of personal injury, environmental damage, and asset damage.
  • In liaison with the HSE Lead, obtain permits to work authority for designated areas and conduct toolbox talks/job safety analyses as required.
  • Prepare Cargo Plant and Systems for start-up, including isolating and reinstating Cargo Systems for maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Valid USCG MMC with a minimum of a 3rd Assistant Engineer Unlimited or higher Officer in Charge of Engineer Watch (III/1) Rating forming part of a watch (III/4)
  • Able Seafarer-Engine (III/5)
  • Basic Training (VI/1)
  • Proficiency in the use of survival craft (VI/2)
  • Advanced Fire Fighting (VI/3)
  • Medical First-Aid Provider (VI/4)
  • Vessel Personnel with Designated Security Duties/Security Awareness (VI/6)
  • Valid TWIC
  • Valid USCG 719k Med Cert (STCW)
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Tankerman Assist / PIC-DL (Preferred)
  • T-HUET (or better) (Preferred)
