3D Motion Design 2- Adjunct Faculty- Traditional Ground - College of Arts and Media

Grand Canyon University is a private Christian university located in Phoenix, Arizona. The College of Arts and Media is seeking adjunct faculty for part-time, face-to-face instruction at our Phoenix campus for the Spring 2027 semester (class start date: 01/04/2027).

About the Role

Teach the 3D Motion Design 2 course, which focuses on building creative skillsets with an emphasis on 3D motion graphics principles and processes using industry-standard tools. Students will demonstrate design aesthetics and technical skills needed to enter the field of motion graphics. Technology requirement: Students provide their own laptop and mouse and use industry-standard software to complete assignments.

• Assess student performance and mentor classroom success to prepare them for their chosen career path.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in animation, motion graphics, 3D modeling, graphic design, advertising, or an equivalent degree in the visual arts.
• Master’s degree and 3 or more years’ experience in the design industry (preferred).
• Required skills:
  • 12 Principles of Animation
  • Understanding of graphic design and its relation to motion graphics
  • Motion graphics trends
  • Motion production pipeline
  • Typography and its use in motion
  • Color theory
  • Shot structure
  • Modeling, texturing, lighting, and rendering
• Required software teaching skills:
  • Maya
  • Adobe After Effects
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Adobe Audition and Adobe mobile apps
• Candidates must be able to teach using the most current versions of Adobe and Maya software (GCU does not provide software or hardware outside of campus classrooms).
• A portfolio of current work examples is required with the application.
• Relevant job titles: Graphic Designer, 3D Animator, Motion Graphics Designer, Creative Director, Art Director.
• Unofficial transcript for any applicable conferred graduate or undergraduate degrees must be attached with the application.
