Arthrex, Inc. is a global medical device company and a leader in new product development and medical education in orthopedics. We are actively searching for a 3D Artist to join our 3DAnatomy team, contributing to the 3DAnatomy™ Modeling Platform.

About the role

This individual will collaborate in the production process of anatomically accurate 3D medical models, from conception to delivery, to create high-quality and precise 3D printed models for demonstrations, training, and prototyping. The role focuses on 3D content creation, including skeletal anatomy, soft tissue anatomy, textures, and other required features. A portfolio or work samples demonstrating relevant experience are required as part of the application. This position is based at our campus in Naples, FL.

Responsibilities

  • Create and edit technically accurate medical 3D models and textures for Medical Education materials targeted at orthopedic surgeons, including anatomically correct models of major joints or other valid orthopedic structures for simulated procedures.
  • Collaborate in all phases of the 3D model creation process, including anatomical sculpting and texturing, with an emphasis on 3D content creation for 3D printing and other rapid creation processes.
  • Utilize industry-standard SFX techniques and workflows to create 3D molds for casting realistic soft-tissue anatomy.
  • Review medical education documentation and live or recorded surgical procedures to better understand critical anatomy and design features required for each project.
  • Examine medical data such as radiographs, computed tomography (CT) scans, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans, and other relevant data to understand the clinical presentation of pathologies.
  • Work productively and harmoniously with Department Managers, 3D animators, Product Managers, and medical education teams.
  • Observe surgical demonstrations, including cadaver dissections.
  • Produce well-documented steps highlighting the creation, development, and execution of 3D models and textures.
  • Maintain an organized workflow and collaborate with team timelines and expectations.

Requirements

  • Fundamental knowledge of Maya, 3D Studio Max, or ZBrush preferred.
  • Fundamental knowledge of general anatomy and anatomical terminology preferred.
  • Fundamental knowledge of silicone casting and painting techniques preferred.
  • Experience applying textures to 3D models and creating high-quality renders.
  • Fundamental knowledge and use of After Effects or Photoshop.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Game Design, Computer Animation, Visual Effects, or a similar field is preferred.
