About the Role

The 3D Art Shop Supervisor provides technical expertise and support to faculty and students across a broad range of studio art courses, including 3D Design, Sculpture, Special Topics, Design Workshop, and Senior Seminar, as well as aspects of Painting, Drawing, Photography, 2D Design, and Printmaking, helping create an engaging environment where experimentation, craftsmanship, and artistic growth can thrive.
Responsibilities
- Technical Workshop Operations & Safety: Maintain and oversee the daily operation of the 3D workshop, classrooms, and related equipment to support instructional and research activities. Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment by establishing and enforcing safe work practices, training students, faculty, and visitors in the proper use of tools and equipment, and providing technical workshops and safety instruction for students, including senior Art majors.
- Fabrication Support & Instruction: Provide technical expertise and hands-on support in both analog and digital fabrication processes for faculty and students engaged in studio coursework, independent projects, and research initiatives. Assist with student exhibitions, senior thesis projects, and other academic endeavors by offering guidance on fabrication techniques, equipment use, and project execution.
- Facilities, Equipment & Resource Management: Coordinate the procurement, assembly, installation, design, and maintenance of studio furniture, equipment, materials, and supplies. Monitor inventory levels, stock workshop resources, and collaborate with Campus Facilities to implement improvements and enhancements to workshop and classroom spaces.
- Budget & Financial Administration: Manage budgets for the 3D workshop and related academic courses, including purchasing, expenditure tracking, reconciliation, and monitoring project-related material costs to ensure responsible stewardship of departmental resources.
- Student Employee Supervision & Operational Support: Hire, train, schedule, and supervise student shop monitors to support workshop operations and promote a safe and productive environment. Operate College vehicles as needed for field trips and local procurement of materials and equipment in support of instructional and operational needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- 1 year of experience in a related field
- One year of relevant work experience may be substituted for one year of required education, or one year of relevant academic coursework beyond the minimum requirement may be substituted for one year of required professional experience.

Pay
$23.08 to $27.70 per hour
