3D Animator – Music Video

This is an opportunity to create a full-length animated music video for a Slovenian alternative band, focusing on the song “Mama Drama.” The project centers on visually interpreting a mother–daughter relationship through satire, humor, and tenderness, exploring themes of control, rebellion, guilt, love, and self-recognition. The animation should follow the emotional arc of the lyrics while allowing for original creative interpretation. The preferred style is stylized 3D animation with a tactile, clay-like or handmade quality, featuring expressive characters, exaggerated proportions, surreal metaphors, and a punk-inspired yet emotionally warm aesthetic. The daughter character should be loosely inspired by the singer’s appearance in the band’s previous video, interpreted in your own style. The band will provide the track, original Slovenian lyrics, English translation, and visual references to guide the creative process. The final video should be inventive, visually engaging, and reflect the band’s distinctive artistic identity. Deliverables Develop the project from concept through final delivery, including visual direction, narrative treatment/script, character design, storyboard, and animation for a 2:36 music video. Create expressive, stylized 3D characters with a handmade, clay-like texture and a balance of punk-inspired edge and emotional warmth. Incorporate surreal visual metaphors and playful, inventive storytelling that aligns with the song’s emotional progression. Integrate original Slovenian lyrics on screen where creatively appropriate. Collaborate closely with the band, incorporating their feedback and references throughout the process. Deliver the final animated video in a format suitable for online release. Requirements Proven experience in 3D animation, with a strong portfolio demonstrating stylized, character-driven work. Proficiency in relevant 3D animation software (e.g., Blender, Maya, Cinema 4D) and post-production tools. Ability to develop visual concepts, storyboards, and narrative treatments from supplied references and creative briefs. Strong sense of visual storytelling, character design, and emotional expression. Creative approach to working within budget and production constraints, with an inventive and resourceful mindset. Excellent communication skills and openness to collaborative feedback. Availability to deliver the project within the agreed timeline. Experience with music videos or narrative animation is a plus.
