397 - FT Assistant Manager
About the Role
The Assistant Manager is responsible for executing all operational, merchandising, and managerial functions within the store during their assigned shift. In the absence of the Store Manager, the Assistant Manager serves as the manager-on-duty, overseeing daily operations and supervising Sales Associates.
Responsibilities
- Drive sales to achieve and exceed financial goals; assist the Store Manager in evaluating business performance and taking proactive steps to improve results.
- Assist in setting and monitoring store goals (individual, daily, weekly) and managing store expenses.
- Ensure all funds and merchandise are handled according to Company policy and procedure.
- Maintain accountability for store operations, associate development, and financial contribution.
- Assist with scheduling and executing at least one grassroots marketing event per quarter.
- Utilize social media to drive traffic to the store for events, recruiting, and sales generation.
- Assist in driving PLCC (Private Label Credit Card) and email capture initiatives.
- Build relationships within the community, including churches and local retailers.
- Provide exceptional customer service and ensure the store is properly zoned for optimal selling and customer experience.
- Serve as a product knowledge expert to educate customers and associates.
- Model and uphold Company values; hold associates accountable for the same.
- Partner with the Store Manager in all store matters, maintaining high operational standards as outlined in the Policy and Procedures manual.
- Assist in creating and revising the store schedule to align with selling expenses and productivity.
- Ensure store neatness, maintenance, and cleanliness; execute merchandise displays and visuals to enhance the brand.
- Place supply orders and monitor inventory levels.
- Communicate with the Store Manager and District Manager on operational issues.
- Assist in recruiting, training, and coaching staff to build bench strength and career paths.
- Conduct daily "Take 5" meetings to update associates on Company and store communications.
- Hold associates accountable to Ashley Stewart’s policies and procedures through coaching and feedback.
- Manage time effectively for self and associates.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2–3 years of prior retail experience; 1 year of prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to apply retail math principles.
- Proficient computer skills and ability to use a POS system.
- High level of initiative and accountability.
- Proven ability to prioritize multiple initiatives and meet deadlines.
- Detail-oriented.
Essential Work Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs, push, pull, bend, and stretch frequently.
- Stand for periods of 8–10 hours per day.
- Use ladders or other equipment for store and merchandising maintenance.
- Work a flexible schedule, including holidays, weekends, and late evenings.
- Minimal travel may be required (e.g., district meetings, banking duties).
