$35.92/hr-Sewer Jet Rodder Operator

Primary Role

Illinois American Water is seeking a Sewer Jet Rodder Operator to join their team in Woodridge, IL. This role will work with plant operators to prioritize and haul materials needing attention, operate various machinery including sludge and belt presses, and work with contractors to remove solids from the processing plant.

Key Accountabilities

• Load and transport liquid sludge between wastewater facilities.
• Operate and maintain belt presses and sludge management data.
• Inventory and order polymer and sludge management chemicals.
• Perform basic maintenance on sludge trucks, tractors, and other vehicles.
• Provide feedback to operators and forepersons on sludge management processes.
• Contribute to facility cleanliness and grounds upkeep.
• Assist other wastewater personnel with sludge management and facility maintenance as needed.

Knowledge/Skills

• Safe operation of all daily functions including sludge tractor/trailer, dump trailer, sludge loading tractor, belt press, and other facility equipment.
• Follow safety rules and operation procedures established by the Company.
• Mathematical aptitude for sludge management calculations and efficiency.
• Mechanical aptitude for servicing and maintaining machinery.
• Computer proficiency in programs like Outlook, Microsoft Office, Waterly, and MapCall.
• Familiarity with SCADA computer systems for utilities.
• High school diploma or equivalent, with preferred knowledge of wastewater treatment plant operations.

Physical Requirements

• Heavy manual labor in all types of weather.
• Available for work after business hours and during emergencies.
• Reliable, responsible, organized, and resourceful.
• Able to think and act promptly, often working alone.

Travel Requirements

• Local travel within service territory required.

Work Schedule

Full-time, on-site Sunday-Thursday, 7am-3:30pm. Opportunity for overtime.
