About the Role

As a Military Police Officer for the Army National Guard, you’ll protect, defend, and uphold the law while supporting battlefield operations and the peacetime Army community. Responsibilities include circulation control, area security, prisoner of war operations, civilian internee supervision, and law and order operations. You’ll also implement crime prevention programs and preserve law and order within the community.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct law enforcement patrols
  • Interview witnesses, victims, and suspects in investigations
  • Secure and process crime scenes
  • Arrest and charge criminal suspects
  • Support battlefield operations through circulation control and area security
  • Supervise civilian internee and prisoner of war operations
  • Implement crime prevention programs
  • Preserve law and order in the Army community

Training

Earn while you learn with paid training in the Army National Guard. Training includes:

  • 10 weeks of Basic Training (basic Soldiering skills)
  • 20 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT) and on-the-job instruction, including classroom and field practice in police methods

Requirements

  • Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
  • Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or GED certificate
  • Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
  • Must pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
  • Must meet citizenship requirements (see NATIONALGUARD.com for details)
