About This Role The Preschool Teacher is a dynamic educator responsible for shaping a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for three-year-old children. By delivering tailored learning experiences, the teacher enables students to flourish socially, emotionally, academically, physically, and spiritually, fostering confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning. Schedule Teaching Hours: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PMClassroom Hours: 8:30 AM – 12:30 PMIncludes one paid planning hour per day What You'll Do Create engaging, age-specific lessons and classroom activities that cater to the diverse needs of the studentsEstablish a positive and structured classroom atmosphere that promotes social, emotional, and cognitive growthSupport the holistic development of children, encompassing their social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and spiritual well-beingPromote positive behaviors, encourage independence, and foster healthy relationships among peersMaintain high standards of classroom cleanliness, organization, and safetyDevelop and maintain effective communication channels with families regarding student progress and classroom activitiesRegularly observe and document developmental milestones and concerns as neededCollaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administration to ensure seamless operationsParticipate in staff meetings, training sessions, and school events as requiredEmbody Christian values and create an atmosphere where children feel loved, valued, and cherished Requirements Coursework or degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferredExperience working with preschool-aged children preferredStrong communication and classroom management skillsAbility to work collaboratively with staff and familiesWarm, patient, and dependable demeanorMust complete all required background checks and screenings Physical Requirements Ability to bend, lift, sit on the floor, and participate in classroom activities as neededAbility to actively supervise and engage with young children throughout the school day Benefits Paid LeaveSick LeaveTuition AssistanceChild Care DiscountProfessional DevelopmentFlexible Schedule About Us We are a ministry of Centerville Baptist Church and have been one of the longest running programs in the Chesapeake area; 66 years and counting! Centerville Baptist Children's Program offers preschool, kindergarten, and childcare for these ages. Every child is special, loved, and cared for by our dedicated and experienced staff.
