About the Role
The Camp Program Facilitator works with the Assistant Camp Directors to deliver educational outdoor programs. This role involves facilitating camp-based programs both virtually and outdoors, using the Girl Scout outdoor badge curriculum and other aspects of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience or related educational content. The focus is on providing high-quality programming to guests at one of three camps (Camp Timber Ridge, Camp Meriwether, or Camp Misty Mountain) while ensuring safe, outcome-based experiences for all participants.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate and lead all camp programming for virtual, overnight events, or day programs.
- Ensure programming aligns with the national and local outdoor and virtual program vision of the Girl Scout movement.
- Provide high-quality customer service to all guests.
- Participate in set-up and clean-up of all program and activity areas.
- Assist with meal execution and food service where applicable.
- Work collaboratively with peers at other Girl Scout properties to maintain consistent program standards.
- Support the full-time team by conducting rounds to check on guests and provide assistance as needed.
- Demonstrate flexibility, initiative, and the ability to work well with others.
- Pursue specialty training in areas such as High and Low Challenge Course, Archery, Lifeguarding, Canoe/Kayak, outdoor skills, virtual program delivery, or environmental education.
Requirements
- High School Graduate (required).
- Passion and vision for outdoor education and girls' leadership programming.
- Girl Scout volunteer or girl program experience (a plus).
- Strong customer service skills and focus.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including experience with diverse audiences.
- Excellent judgment and decision-making skills, including crisis management.
- Ability to work non-standard hours, including regular weekend hours.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to live, traverse, and conduct activities on steep, unleveled, and rough terrain.
- Capability to lift and/or transfer objects weighing 50 pounds or more.
- Must successfully complete and clear criminal, MVR, and sex offender background checks.
