2nd shift Vat Washer / Cleaner

About the role

Cleans interior of batch processing tanks and vats to remove residue left after batches are filled off into containers. Maintains used “wash” drums and accounts for used cleaning solvent.

Responsibilities

• Drain tank/vat of remaining batch material
• Scrape and/or scrub interior of tank/vat to remove residue
• Use appropriate cleaning solvent to clean tank/vat
• Remove residue and cleaning solvent from tank/vat with squeegees, pump and/or suction hoses
• Dry tank/vat
• Inspect tank/vat to ensure no chance of contamination before authorizing tank/vat for use
• Empty used cleaning solvent into appropriate used wash drum
• Maintain used wash drum area by tracking amount of wash in drum and replacing filled drums
• Apply proper labeling to empty wash drums to prepare for use
• Maintain log of used cleaning solvents (wash)
• Assist in Filling area as needed
• Maintain neat and orderly work area

• Basic reading and comprehension skills
• Basic math/measurement skills
• Basic machine operation capabilities
• Reasoning ability to determine correctness of tank/vat cleaning and filling procedures in relation to specified guidelines

• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds

Work Environment

The work environment is representative of those an employee would encounter in a normal paint manufacturing facility.

• Exposure to solvent vapors at well below the OSHA permissible exposure limit (adequate personal protective equipment is provided)
• Frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts
• Moderate noise level
