About the Role

The Electrician will work in conjunction with the maintenance, production, and engineering departments to provide electrical support to the Tufting Department. Responsibilities include equipment troubleshooting, electrical device installation, new equipment installation, and developing and implementing equipment process improvements through technology and automation.

Responsibilities

  • Repair electrical problems for industrial carpet manufacturing processes.
  • Install electrical conduit and wiring, design electrical circuits, and estimate costs.
  • Conduct advanced troubleshooting of equipment and processes using electrical theory, meters, equipment manuals, schematics, and other resources.
  • Troubleshoot motors, controllers, and advanced motor controls, such as VFDs, technical sensors, lasers, and situation monitors.
  • Assist maintenance staff in operational debugging of machine controllers, motors, motor controls, sensors, and related components using Tarkett standard techniques.
  • Communicate with project teams to ensure project awareness.
  • Collaborate with controls engineers or technicians to maintain current and accurate schematics and backup programs for PLCs, HMIs, and camera systems.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; or 5–7 years of related experience and/or technical training in electrical troubleshooting, basic electricity, motors, VFDs, and motor controls; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Associate’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering is a plus but not required (may be required for advancement to Controls Technician).
  • Trained in and accountable for lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures.
  • Self-starter and team player capable of multitasking and prioritizing projects.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Initiate and install suggestions for upgrading electrical components and improving manufacturing processes.

Skills

  • Read and comprehend electrical schematics, instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Calculate electrical ratios, proportions, percentages, and other measurements.
  • Interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, sit, use hand/eye coordination, operate hand/air/electrical power tools, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and listen.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities: close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
