About the Role
As a spot-welding operator, you will continuously spot weld components according to work order instructions and customer drawing specifications. The role involves a variety of production tasks, including using holding jigs to meet dimensional requirements.
Responsibilities
- Set up spot welds to the appropriate heat, tip, and AC forge delay.
- Ensure setup is acceptable based on visual and strength tests.
- Pick necessary tooling for the application.
- Perform spot weld operations according to drawing specifications.
- Change and dress electrodes.
- Sand spot welds as required.
- Utilize rigs equipment for positioning work.
- Ensure the building of quality products.
- Perform self-inspections during the process.
- Handle parts and materials properly to avoid personal injury or product damage.
- Carry out maintenance of machines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School or GED diploma.
- 2 years of experience setting up and operating resistance welders (preferred).
- Ability to read drawings, work to verbal direction, and follow sketches.
- Proficient in basic shop math.
- Manual dexterity and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Positive attitude and detail-oriented.
- Adaptability to various situations.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This position works in a manufacturing setting with exposure to heavy equipment, machinery, and related noise levels. The role primarily involves standing for up to 6+ hours per day, with some duties requiring short periods of sitting. Must be capable of lifting 0–50 lbs. on an occasional basis.
