2nd Shift- Setup Operator Centerless Grind

About the role

Under the direction of the supervisor, this person must assist the centerless grinding area, maintaining both proper production and quality levels by periodically checking operators for quantity and quality and spot checking the setups.

Responsibilities

• Have complete responsibility for all aspects of the setup and operation of the centerless grinding machines and related precision gauging equipment
• Recommend the optimum feeds and speeds, determine compensation requirements, select the best tools for any particular operation, and solve unusual grinding problems that occur in manufacturing
• When required, change, select and dress grinding wheels
• Using all machines and operators, determine the best work assignments in order to maintain quality and the flow of work
• Train new employees in the centerless grinding area
• Use, check and direct the use of gauges such as micrometers, verniers, indicators, shadow gauges and jo blocks
• Report all maintenance requirements to the supervisors on a timely basis
• Maintain good production records
• Assist operators when required
• Handle the segregation, identification and transportation of any material within the grinding area
• Keep the work area clean and safe
• Fill in on any job in the department as required
• Perform any other reasonable duties as assigned by the supervisor
