2nd Shift - Set-Up Mold Technician

Job Type: Full-time | Department: Set-Up | Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor | FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

About the role

The Mold Technician is responsible for changing molds on foam molding machines to ensure efficient production and high-quality products.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe work environment
  • Change molds on foam molding machines in a timely and efficient manner
  • Inspect molds for damage or wear and report any issues to management
  • Clean and maintain molds to ensure proper functioning
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mold-related issues to minimize downtime
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area
  • All other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of 3–6 months of relative manufacturing experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in mold changing or strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Knowledge or experience in ERP/MRP systems
  • Manufacturing industry experience preferred

Skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with ERP systems

Physical Demands

  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and push/pull up to 50 lbs
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision; must be able to visually identify and troubleshoot issues with machine processes
  • Must be able to read gauges, paperwork, and other visuals associated with the process
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, talk, and hear
  • Frequently required to reach, stoop, bend, squat, stretch, and twist
  • Must be able to work in, with, and near machinery and work with hand tools
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hearing protection, safety glasses, steel/composite toe shoes, and gloves
  • Must apply critical thinking to perform problem-solving for complex tasks, including recognizing hazards and mitigating risk
  • Must have the ability to provide clear directions for tasks
  • Must be able to operate machines and support equipment
  • Must be able to work at heights and use a ladder

Work Environment

  • Typical manufacturing environment with proximity to other production associates, materials, and machinery
  • Noise level is usually moderate to high; ear protection required
  • Moderate exposure to heat, cold, and noise; dependent on external weather temperatures
  • Work areas may occasionally have wet or damp conditions
