2nd Shift Plant Operator
About the role
The Plant Operator will be responsible for safely handling and filling gas products into liquid, medical and high pressure gas cylinders in compliance with federal, state, local regulations, and meeting the standard operating procedures of Airgas.
Performs cylinder analyses & supports alignment with government and company standards. Calculates gas mixtures to contribute to quality standards and documents results. Ensures that a mixture can be safely made. Identifies and coordinates cylinder and valve combinations to ensure compatibility with the mix and compliance. Operates control panels, containing valves and pressure gauges, and scales with a precision-oriented approach to gas mixtures. Completes all meaningful records to accurately capture all production actions.
Upholds and promotes company procedures and government regulations relating to the safe handling of hazardous materials. Safely operates a forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse/material-handling equipment. Loads/unloads cylinders on/off pallets; ensuring they are strapped in. Contributing to team success as needed.

- Safely operates forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment.
- Loads and unloads cylinders on and off pallets, securing them properly.
- Supports team success as needed.
Requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a wide variety of people.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Detail-oriented.
- Ability to perform math functions.
- Lives by Airgas safety programs, OSHA, and all related rules, regulations, procedures which are applicable to this position’s responsibilities.
Qualifications
- HS Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- One year of experience in manufacturing operations or loading experience preferred.
- Strong background in gas, welding and safety supply industry or chemical industry preferred.
- Ability to safely operate a forklift.
