What You’ll Be Doing
- Maintain and operate forklift safely at all times
- Complete daily forklift inspections
- Set up and operate palletizer for specific product being run
- Adjust bars
- Operate computer to program stack pattern of size product being run
- Must be able to operate in both manual and automatic modes, resetting as needed
- Load slip sheets and empty pallets into machine – ensure straightness, no broken boards or double runners on pallets
- Operate pallet wrapper, replace rolls of wrap as needed
- Print daily schedule and pallet tags for product being run, ensuring accuracy
- Accurately complete necessary paperwork (finished goods tally, downtime)
- Scan finished goods into system (and location) with scan gun and stage to be put away
- Stage raw materials for packaging (glass, caps, cartons)
- Remove finished product from palletizer, ensure finished goods meet quality specs (no broken jars, labels/case codes are correct, shrink wrap is intact)
- Troubleshoot and correct problems as they occur (suction bar, photo eyes, etc.)
- Notify maintenance if assistance is needed
- Hand palletize (stack) finished goods onto pallets as needed
- Adjust and clean photo eyes on the outside as well as the inside of the machine
- Use emergency stop correctly so as not to stop machine in the middle of cycle.
- Fix chain if it falls off
- Use proper lock out procedures when making repairs
- Stack pallets of finished product in an orderly and straight manner
- Other tasks as assigned
What You Bring to the Table
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- 1–2 years of forklift experience preferred (Food Processing a plus).
- Basic math and clear communication skills.
- Palletizer Operators work in indoor and outdoor environments.
- Exposure to wet/humid conditions and extreme heat/cold.
- Some high noise levels and moving mechanical parts.
- Exposure to fumes and nuisance dusts.
- Must wear proper PPE such as bump cap, eye and ear protection, gloves, seatbelts to ensure your safety as well as protecting the quality of our products.
- Strong communication skills are essential, as the role involves regular interaction with team members across departments.
