2nd Shift Painter

About the role

J&J Truck Bodies & Trailers is looking for a 2nd shift painter who will prepare the surface of an object to be painted. Sprays surfaces of parts, and manufactured products with paint.

Responsibilities

• Take necessary precautions with hazardous materials and fully comply with EPA, OSHA, and NIOSH guidelines.
• Safely and efficiently transport objects into and out of blast and/or paint booths.
• Clean and prepare surfaces to be painted by removing grease and dirt; and removing rust from metal with blaster, grinder, sandpaper, or wire brushes.
• Apply masking tape or other materials over parts and areas that are not to be coated, paying special care to avoid overspray.
• Select and mix primer and/or paint to produce desired viscosity and color.
• Pour primer and/or paint into the spray gun and connect the gun to an air hose.
• Adjust spray gun valves and nozzle to regulate the width and pressure of spray.
• Pull trigger and direct spray onto a work surface to apply prime or finish coat.
• Coat areas inaccessible to a hand sprayer with a brush.
• Clean spraying equipment and brushes with solvent.
• Replace screens and filters in paint booths.
• Move items to be painted into and out of paint booths.
• Clean paint booths and general work area including paint guns, hoses, and nozzles.
• Safely perform duties; always wear the required PPE.
• Observe and comply with all the provisions of the ISO 9001 QMS.
