Summary: You will be a key player on the manufacturing team, primarily involved in production of powdered nutritional supplement ingredients. Primary responsibilities cover all aspects of the manufacturing process: weighing and measuring raw materials, blending and mixing, discharging product for drying, grinding, and packaging. The ideal candidate is skilled in all areas of production and machinery, including blenders, grinders, hot water systems, furnaces, racks, and air collection.

Responsibilities

• Manufacturing:
  • Read and follow Batch Formulation Sheets (BFS) precisely.
  • Add water as specified by the water meter; verify water temperature is within proper range.
  • Add ingredients and sign off each ingredient on the BFS.
  • Properly identify, weigh, and confirm dry ingredients against the BFS during production.
• Discharge:
  • Cut rack paper to appropriate lengths; review BFS to determine if paper needs spraying.
  • Ensure paddles and equipment are clean; discharge product properly.
  • When racks are full, label each set with correct lot and product numbers.
  • Clean blenders completely after use.
• Drying:
  • Place product in available drying rooms.
  • Minimize oven space by putting all product to dry in the smallest amount of space possible.
• Grinding:
  • Verify information per BFS; operate forklift proficiently.
  • Set up grinder and specified mesh screen properly per product.
  • Prepare containers for shipping; properly label product in each drum.
  • Grind product, pull samples for tracking and analysis.
  • Weigh and record drums on BFS (verify weights).
  • Clean grinder properly after use.
• Cleaning & Maintenance:
  • Assist in daily cleanup and routine equipment maintenance according to training.
  • Complete cleaning logs for each operation and each piece of equipment.
  • Maintain plant compliance with health department regulations at all times to avoid citations/penalties during unannounced inspections.
• Weighing:
  • Review completed BFS; weigh and verify product.
  • Identify raw materials by ingredient name; assign lot numbers.
  • Ensure accuracy in weighing and verification of each other’s work.

Requirements

• Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or GED; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Mathematical Skills: Understanding of basic math functions, varying units of measurement, ability to use scales and understand values.
• Physical Demands: This is a hands-on physical role requiring the ability to regularly lift up to 75 lbs.
