About the role
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of a facility’s equipment, systems, and physical infrastructure. This role involves performing routine inspections, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, completing preventive maintenance tasks, and responding to repair requests to minimize downtime.
Responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and part replacements to prevent equipment failures.
- Identify root causes of equipment malfunctions using diagnostic tools, manuals, and technical knowledge.
- Fix or replace defective mechanical components such as bearings, belts, gears, pumps, and motors.
- Ensure machines operate safely and efficiently to support continuous production or facility operations.
- Interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals to guide repairs and installations.
- Assemble, align, and calibrate new machinery or mechanical systems.
- Inspect equipment and work areas to ensure compliance with safety standards and identify potential hazards.
- Track parts usage, request replacements, and ensure tools are in proper working condition.
- Record repairs, parts used, downtime, and maintenance history in logs or CMMS systems.
- Communicate equipment status, coordinate repairs, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Technical school or vocational training.
- Effective communication with operators, supervisors, and vendors.
- Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis.
- Mechanical troubleshooting and repair.
- Preventive and predictive maintenance.
- Equipment installation, alignment, and calibration.
- Basic electrical knowledge (motors, sensors, wiring).
- Welding, fabrication, and machining.
- Using diagnostic tools and measurement instruments.
