About The Job
We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Diesel Shop Supervisor to lead our second-shift maintenance operations in Gaithersburg, MD. This position combines strong diesel mechanic expertise with front-line supervisory responsibilities by providing direct leadership for technicians. Manages work flow and assigns tasks. As a working supervisor, you will provide leadership and technical guidance to a team of 6 technicians, ensuring timely and high-quality maintenance and repair of a fleet of approximately 70 vehicles. This role requires the ability to balance administrative duties with active participation in diagnostics and repairs.
Shift Details
This is a 2nd shift position, with a start time between 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM with rotating Saturdays.
What You'll Be Doing
- Oversees the day-to-day operations of employees in the maintenance shop.
- Covers and supervises all maintenance work and repairs, and monitors progress and quality.
- Reviews driver repairs and other maintenance requests and prepares work order documents.
- Performs mechanical duties as needed.
- Maintains inventory of replacement parts and restocks as needed.
- Oversees personnel including coaching, training, evaluating employee performance, and conducting disciplinary action as needed.
- Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
- Interprets and ensures consistent application of organizational policies and safety regulations.
- Creates and submits reports as necessary.
Required Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or GED (accredited).
- 4 years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirements).
- Valid Driver's License.
Physical Requirements
- Exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals, etc) rarely.
- Exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements occasionally.
- Routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, etc.
Pay
The expected base pay range for this office/on-site position is $80,877 - $90,392. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
