Academies of Math and Science – Camelback Campus 2nd Grade Teacher Location: 6633 W Camelback Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85033 Start Date: 2026–2027 Compensation Range: $48,331.25 – $54,571.88 annually (DOE) Position Overview Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities. AMS is seeking a passionate and data-driven 2nd Grade Teacher to provide rigorous, standards-aligned instruction that builds strong academic foundations in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies. AMS teachers are collaborative professionals who believe all scholars can achieve at high levels through structured instruction, strong classroom culture, differentiated learning, and consistent use of data to inform instruction. The ideal candidate is committed to supporting students in Title I communities while maintaining high academic expectations and creating a positive, engaging, and supportive classroom environment. Key Responsibilities Instruction & Student Achievement Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction across core subject areas using AMS curriculum frameworksDevelop students’ foundational literacy, mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skillsDifferentiate instruction to support students performing above and below grade levelUse formative and summative assessment data to guide instructional planning and targeted interventionsProvide engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences that encourage student curiosity and academic growthMonitor student progress and implement interventions to support individual learning needs Classroom Culture & Student Support Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and high-expectations classroom environmentImplement PBIS and preventative intervention strategiesCreate a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom where students feel supported and motivated to learnSupport students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional developmentBuild strong relationships with students while maintaining consistent classroom expectations and routines Collaboration & Professional Growth Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communitiesCollaborate with grade-level teams and instructional leaders to strengthen instructional practicesAnalyze student data and adjust instruction to improve student outcomesContribute to school-wide systems focused on student achievement and continuous improvementParticipate in campus initiatives and activities that support student success Family Engagement Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, academic expectations, and areas for growthLead parent-teacher conferences and maintain strong home-school partnershipsProvide families with meaningful updates regarding student achievement and classroom performancePartner with families to support students’ academic and personal development Minimum Qualifications Candidates must meet the following requirements: Valid Arizona teaching certificate or appropriate certification to teach elementary educationBachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Elementary Education, or a related fieldDemonstrated ability to manage a classroom and create a positive learning environmentCommitment to serving Title I and multilingual learner communitiesStrong organizational and analytical skills with enthusiasm for data-driven instructionAbility to collaborate effectively with colleagues and instructional leaders Preferred Qualifications Previous elementary or 2nd grade teaching experienceExperience working in Title I or high-need school environmentsExperience supporting English Language LearnersKnowledge of Arizona academic standardsExperience using student data to drive instruction and interventionsBilingual (Spanish-English) preferred Compensation & Benefits AMS offers a competitive compensation and benefits package designed to support professional growth and long-term career success.
