About the role
Bridging the gap between AI-driven academic instruction and genuine engagement with learning is your primary responsibility. You will oversee a cohort band of either Kindergarten and 1st grade or 2nd and 3rd grade students, focusing on life-skills workshops and individual coaching sessions.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate one-hour life-skills workshops on topics like public speaking, focus, and feedback exchange, customizing the playbook for your group.
- Conduct daily one-on-one and small-group coaching sessions to ensure students stay on track for their weekly app targets using Coachbot analytics.
- Deliver the Test2Pass, Alpha's mastery-based evaluation, for each life skill, and provide targeted coaching to students who do not pass until they achieve mastery.
- Engage kindergarteners through songs, stories, movement, and play while maintaining concrete, measurable expectations for second and third graders.
- Build trust with students to set high expectations and ensure they report loving you by the end of the year.
Requirements
- Willing to work on-site at an Alpha campus in various locations in the US (relocation support provided).
- Willing to hold high standards with students, even when they push back.
- Experience in early-elementary teaching, coaching, tutoring, camp counseling, or youth program leadership with at least 3 years working directly with children ages 4 to 9.
- Willingness to let AI handle the instructional content while focusing on motivation and life-skills coaching.
- Personal history of high achievement and a track record of motivating young kids to achieve hard goals.
- Willingness to work full-time (40 hours per week) as an independent contractor with Crossover.
- Legal authorization to work in the US without visa sponsorship.
Nice-to-have Requirements
- Experience in youth athletics coaching, children's theater, camp leadership, Montessori/progressive early education, or after-school programs.
- A track record of turning shy or resistant little kids into confident, active participants.
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Delivering lessons from the front of the room.
- Creating curriculum materials from the ground up.
- Passively monitoring students at computers.
- Reducing a weekly target so a child can meet it.
- Grading assignments, preparing for standardized tests, or handling parent outreach.
