About the role

The Curriculum is already prepared. The AI has already determined what to teach. Your role is to help a child realize they're capable of something they never believed possible. At Alpha, academic work is completed by students in only two hours per day through adaptive learning technology. This model allows Guides to concentrate on the work that transforms lives: developing confidence, resilience, communication skills, and the drive to embrace difficult challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate dynamic life-skills workshops that guide K-3 students to develop communication, concentration, feedback reception, and other lasting skills through active engagement instead of traditional lectures.
  • Provide one-on-one and small-group coaching to students, utilizing Coachbot analytics, established motivation frameworks, and meaningful relationships to ensure every child stays on course for challenging weekly learning targets.
  • Evaluate life-skill competency using Alpha's Test2Pass framework, coaching students until they show genuine understanding—not merely attendance.
  • Modify your coaching approach to match the developmental stages of your cohort, whether that involves songs, movement, and narratives for younger children or increased independence and responsibility for older students.
  • Cultivate the types of relationships where students feel confident enough to push past what they believed their limits were.

Requirements

  • Willing to work on-site at one of Alpha's campuses. Current positions are available in La Jolla (San Diego); Orange County (Lake Forest); Los Angeles (South Bay, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Malibu); San Francisco Bay Area (San Francisco, Palo Alto, Piedmont); Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton; Miami; Miami Beach; Palm Beach Gardens; Chicago; Boston; New York City; and Kirkland (Seattle area).
  • Relocation assistance is available.
  • Bachelor's degree in any subject.
  • At least 3 years of direct experience working with children ages 4-9 through teaching, coaching, tutoring, camps, youth programs, or comparable settings.
  • A demonstrated history of motivating young children to reach difficult goals, with concrete examples of your influence.
  • Comfort working with AI-powered learning while dedicating your own efforts to coaching, motivation, and life-skill cultivation.
  • The capacity to combine warmth with consistent high expectations.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Background in youth sports, children's theater, camp leadership, Montessori, progressive education, or highly interactive after-school programs.
  • Demonstrated history of reaching ambitious goals in academics, athletics, or your professional life.
  • Exceptional storytelling or performance abilities that naturally engage the attention of young children.
  • Proof of helping hesitant or reserved children transform into confident, active participants.
